Sheffield’s stainless centenary gets Norbert’s support

2013 is the 100th anniversary of the discovery of stainless steel in Sheffield – and Norbert Dentressangle is supporting the celebrations by transporting two three-metre high horse heads, known as Kelpies, from Scotland to a series of events on behalf of Outokumpu Stainless.

In 1913, Harry Brearley, a Sheffield steelworker and metallurgist, was experimenting with alloys and found that by adding chromium to molten iron he had produced a ‘rustless steel’, subsequently renamed stainless steel.

The Kelpies were been designed by sculptor Andy Scott and were transported from a workshop in Falkirk to a conference and exhibition at the University of Sheffield.
