Knights of Old pay tribute after former chairman is found dead

Knights of Old has paid tribute to its former chairman Donald Knight, who was found dead in his home in Loddington, Northants, alongside his wife Margret yesterday (2 May).

A spokesman for the Kettering-based haulier told Commercialmotor.com: “We would like to pay tribute to the family name to which we continue to trade under today.”

He added that Knight was the third-generation of his family to head Knights of Old and held the position of chairman up until a MBO, when he retired 15 years ago.

“A few of us had the privilege of knowing and working with Donald and Margaret and they will be sadly missed in the community,” he added. “Our sincere thoughts and condolences are with the family at this very sad time.”

A statement from the family released by Northants Police said: “We are devastated by this tragic news and wish to thank people for their kind words.”

Police discovered the bodies of Donald and Margret at 2.10pm on Thursday 2 May. Police are not currently seeking anyone in connection with their deaths.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Behan of Northamptonshire Police said: “I know that this tragic incident has shocked people in the local community and would like to offer reassurance that we are not seeking anyone else in connection with it. My thoughts and condolences are with the family at this difficult time.”
