Stertil Koni upgrades service vans to improve safety and efficiency

Stertil Koni has invested in a fleet of upgraded service vans to ensure continuing excellent after sales support for the company’s many customers and increased safety for its team of service engineers. Significantly, the new fleet of Ford Transit 350 MWB service vans incorporates state-of-the-art vehicle management technology, telescopic work platform systems and space-saving interior racking.

Each van has been fitted with the latest VMIgreenlight vehicle management system which has been cleverly designed so that users can manage and access the system via the internet with no need for hardware. Mapping software allows all vehicles to be tracked, monitored and viewed nationwide in real-time, providing accurate information to both the engineers on the road and customers nationwide. Apart from using the system to support day to day activities, in the event of a breakdown or urgent request, the nearest engineer can be quickly directed to attend a customer’s premises and carry out the necessary work. As a result, downtime can be dramatically reduced and customers can resume their operations with the minimum of disruption.

Perhaps the most visible sign of the upgraded vans is the incorporation of Zap 2 telescopic work platforms which have been designed to provide the advantages of lightweight ladders and scaffolds whilst offering compact storage and transport dimensions. The new platforms ensure that servicing and installation tasks can be performed safely at heights up to 5.15 metres. Extremely versatile, the work platform features wheels, handrails and stabilisers and is easy to position and erect by a single engineer. The work platforms are transported on the vans’ innovative roof rack system which includes a novel ladder lift. This is operated by the engineer at ground level using a simple twist handle that lifts the work platform onto and off the roof rack in a smooth and effortless movement.

Racking inside the vans has also been updated to create a compact yet spacious layout for the storage of spare parts, tools and specialist equipment. Providing instant access and simplifying stock control, the new racking systems also ensure maximum space utilisation without compromising the vans’ central loading area.

Tony Edge, Stertil Koni’s General Manager, is impressed with the immediate customer benefits following the company’s investment in the new fleet of service vans. He says, “We’ve always recognised that our engineers need the best tools and equipment to complete the job as efficiently and safely as possible. Our new high spec vans have certainly raised the bar within the industry and their introduction is just one more example of how we strive to remain as customer focused as possible.”
