Continental Tyres launches new dedicated bus and coach range – stand 5G80

The 2013 CV Show will see the launch of all-axle bus and coach tyres Conti Coach, Conti CityPlus and Conti Urban, the first tyres to be introduced in Continental Tyres’ Generation 3 range. Each new Generation 3 tyre has been designed to meet the challenges specific to its application.

Conti Coach, for long distance coach operations, has been engineered to provide excellent rolling resistance, giving greater fuel economy and higher mileage compared to its predecessor.

The Conti CityPlus for regional or intercity applications has the addition of a thicker sidewall to protect the tyre from damage as well as enhanced wet braking capabilities throughout the life of the tyre provided by the new 3D tread structure. The Conti Urban, for inner city use, benefits from a thicker sidewall and an innovative tread compound designed expressly to combat the challenges of inner city roads and also benefits from reduced rolling resistance.

Volvo Trucks’ new FH: an icon reborn – stand 5G50

Volvo Trucks reports a hugely positive response from customers and media for the new FH series since its launch in September 2012.

Promoted as ‘The Safest Ever Volvo’, the FH driving experience features precise handling and steering, closer to that of a luxury car than a truck. The truck offers 300 litres more storage, a better, wider bed, flatter floor, new security measures and Work Remote – a new wireless remote control unit with all functions that the driver requires while loading or unloading. The new Euro 6 FH also offers operators major fuel savings of up to 10% if all driveline options are taken.

The Volvo stand will also feature an example from the FM series. Other displays will include a Euro-6 compliant engine, a walk-through FH cab and a full size FH simulator where drivers can pit their skill against a variety of virtual road and terrain set-ups.

First Legal Support has worked directly for insurance companies over many years, helping to defend insurance claims made against their customers. Following a number of approaches from fleet operators, transport managers and claims departments, the company will launch its range of services and intermediary insurance products direct to market at the CV Show.

For those companies looking at ways to improve their accident investigation and accident management processes, FLS’ services and products are aimed at saving time and money. Stoneridge, leading the way with tachograph technology – stand 4F111

Fleets will have the opportunity to undertake Stoneridge’s new Fleet Health Check of their business to see what savings they could make with a range of Stoneridge products. This includes the company’s One Minute Rule digital tachograph, the SE5000 Exakt Duo. The Duo technology comes as standard and at no extra cost with all SE5000 Exakt Duos and gives real-time updates and countdowns on drive and rest times.

Show visitors will also get the chance to demo Stoneridge’s new free tachograph apps, Duo Mobile and Tacho Center. With Duo Mobile drivers can now see drive, break and rest times in real time on their smartphone and Tacho Center enables the wireless download of digital tachograph data.

Ford’s high-tech line-up at the CV Show – stand 5G10 and 5G20

Ford will exhibit its widest and most high-tech line-up of commercial vehicles ever at the International CV Show 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham.

More than 15 vehicles will be on display on Ford’s stand including the all-new Ford Transit Custom, the all-new Ford Transit Connect, the all-new Ford Transit with more detail on the all-new Ford Transit Courier to come at the Show. Production versions of the all-new Ford Transit Custom Sport Van and ECOnetic models will also be on display, alongside the new Ford Fiesta Van. Award-winning Ford Ranger models complete Ford’s largest-ever commercial vehicle family.

The best new product exhibited at the CV Show will be recognised in the first Commercial Motor Dragons’ Depot award. The award will be made by CM’s crack team of technical and news reporters who will scour the halls looking for the most useful, innovative and exciting product.

The winner will be announced in the final CV Show Daily that CM will again produce, bringing visitors on all three days the latest news and views from the Show. Every exhibitor at the Show will be in the running for the Dragons’ Depot award, from global manufacturers launching their latest truck to a small company with a new gadget or piece of software.

The debate over what will be named the Dragons’ Depot best CV Show product is bound to be fierce so watch out for the result, also to be reported in CM’s CV Show coverage in the 18 April issue.

Autogas makes its CV Show debut – stand 3B118

Petrol and diesel costs remain a concern for most fleet operators and CV Show visitors will be able to learn how to make savings on fuel bills by up to 40% by converting to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).

Autogas, the leading supplier of automotive LPG, will discuss the dramatic cost savings and environmental benefits that can be achieved by running on LPG. The company will display an LPG-powered Citroën Berlingo van and vehicles are now available for trial and fleet evaluation purposes.

“With petrol and diesel costs remaining stubbornly high, there’s never been a better time for fleet operators to consider switching across to LPG,” explains Linda Gomersall, General Manager, Autogas. “Some 160,000 vehicles in the UK can now run on LPG which is available in more than 1,400 forecourts. AlcoDigital launches AlcoSense TruTouch – stand 4E100

AlcoDigital is returning to the CV Show working with AlcoSense jointly to launch AlcoSense TruTouch, an innovative new alcohol tester. This is the world’s first non-breath alcohol detector, a ground-breaking device that analyses alcohol in the skin.

As a workplace alcohol tester, the AlcoSense TruTouch enables employees to test for alcohol with a non-invasive, self-administered method. It transmits a near infra-red light into the skin via contact with an optical pad, collects a portion of the light reflected back by the skin and analyses it to determine tissue alcohol concentration and verify user identity.

Hankook Tire set to unveil the new Alphatread range – stand 5G110

Hankook will unveil its new environmentally conscious bead-to-bead retread truck tyre range, the Alphatread, at the CV Show. The new range aims to meet customer demands to reduce the running costs of their fleets by providing a ‘cradle to grave’ tyre solution and will be available in the UK during the second quarter of 2013.

The ever-increasing demands of environmental friendliness and continued pressure on fleets to reduce running costs have led to the development of the new Alphatread range. MAN will show Euro 6 chassis for the first time in the UK at the 2013 CV Show, in the shape of an MAN TGL 7.150 4×2 C cab, MAN TGM 18.250 4×2 LX cab and MAN TGX 26.400 6×2 XL cab.

The company will also focus on sales of current Euro 5 vehicles, as operators look to delay moving onto the next phase of Euro legislation with its perceived complexities.
