CV Show 2013: Continental shows next generation tyres

  • 21 February 2013
  • By Steve Hobson

Continental Tyres will use the CV Show to reveal a new naming strategy for the forthcoming range of new truck and bus tyres. The Generation 3 tyres will cover Conti Coach, Conti CityPlus and Conti Urban ranges covering long distance, intercity and regional, and inner city route profiles, respectively. The models will cover all axles and fitments and will be launched in June.

At the show, Continental will be launching the Conti EcoPlus HT3 trailer tyre as the successor to the HTL2+ tyre. Available in three sizes, including 355/65 R22.5, the HT3 trailer tyres will be followed by HA3 axle tyres and HS3 steer tyres. In addition, two new van tyres will be launched during 2013, with the new generation Conti VanContact 100 tyre replacing the Vanco 2 for heavy duty use, and the Conti VanContact 200  for use on car derived vans.

Continental’s tyre pressure monitoring system, Conti PressureCheck, which uses a sensor within the tyre to constantly monitor the temperature of the tyre rather than the wheel hub, will also be on display. Arthur Gregg, Continental commercial sales and marketing director, says: “Over 90 per cent of roadside tyre failures start with a puncture or pressure change. By identifying a failure early you can prevent punctures, and the impact of breakdowns. There is more cost upfront, but more savings in the long run. Conti PressureCheck helps you run at the best pressure, and get the best fuel economy and tread life.”
