CV Show 2013: Trailer tracking and in-cab display from MiX

MiX Telematics is launching two new products in the UK on its CV Show stand 4G41 – a trailer tracker and its new Rovi in-cab display.

The Rovi unit combines two way communication between the driver and the transport office, satellite navigation and driver style feedback in one single compact unit. Operators can customise the data inputs made by the driver to include daily walkaround checks or quantity and time of deliveries, for example.

Driving style, measured using five key parameters including harsh braking, idle time and over-revving, is both displayed in the cab and transmitted back to the office.

“MiX Rovi is an extremely flexible and user-friendly product which can be adapted to meet a wide range of demands in real time,” said Steve Coffin, MiX Telematics’ operations director. “MiX Rovi provides the information fleet managers need instantly, helping to improve turnaround times, efficiency and customer service.”

The MiX trailer tracker is available in battery-powered and wired versions depending on whether or not the trailer has its own power supply. The battery on the wireless version will last for up to 12 months while the wired unit also has a back up battery. A warning is sent when the battery is getting low.

The battery unit transmits its position at the start and end of each journey while the wired version constantly transmits its position. They can be fitted under the chassis to avoid detection by thieves.
