SEA Transport settles on Iveco Stralis

Ipswich-based SEA Transport cited ‘fleet uptime’ for its decision to order eight Iveco Stralis tractors for the container transport part of its operation.

The Stralis AS440 Active Space Super3 tractors, powered by the Euro-5 EEV Cursor 10 engine, are supplied by local Iveco dealer Guest Trucks on five year deals with a full service and repair and maintenance.

Frazer Smith, SEA Transport’s MD and joint owner, said aftersales support was critical to the deal. “Fleet uptime is critical, and Guests could offer us guaranteed Friday night servicing and maintenance, enabling us to have the fleet on the road when we need it most,” he explained.

The operator looked at several manufacturers before settling on Stralis. “The demonstrator proved popular with drivers and delivered great fuel economy;” he said. “Buying Iveco is new ground for us, but we spoke to a number of other Stralis operators before placing the order and liked what we heard – both in terms of the product and the customer backup.

“Strategically this was an important move for our business, it represents a significant investment in our fleet profile, for our stakeholders and customers,” says Smith.

The trucks will pull tri-axle skeletal trailers throughout the UK.
