Channel Swimmer helps to create ‘Rainbows’ for children

MG_6662Loughborough company Snapfulfil help local swimmer fulfil her lifelong dream of swimming the channel.

SaaS Warehouse Management Software specialists, Snapfulfil, are delighted to announce that they will be helping support local swimmer Susan Taylor with her ‘Create A Ripple Channel Swim’, taking place in July 2013 to raise funds for the East Midlands charity, Rainbows Hospice.  Susan aims to join an elite group as incredibly less than 1,000 people have successfully navigated the 21 mile cross-English Channel swim, compared with in excess of 3,000 who have reached the summit of Mount Everest.

Susan Taylor explains: “I’ve had an ambition to follow in comedian David Walliam’s strokes and swim the channel since childhood. This is a dream I have cherished since I was a club swimmer, growing up in Barwell, Leicestershire. As a child, I did a sponsored 5 mile swim for charity and the seed of the idea of swimming the English Channel was sown then”.

Susan continues: “I’m not underestimating the enormity of the task ahead of me. Besides the gruelling physical challenge not to mention the cold water, the English Channel is also one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, with over 600 tankers and 200 ferries crossing it every day”.

Susan goes on to confide: “However tankers and ferries are the least of my worries, as my biggest fear is coming into contact with jelly fish!! I shall overcome this phobia though, in order to raise funds for the very worthy cause of the Rainbow Hospice, who provide a haven where life-limited children and their families can find care and support”.

RBW_Master_logo_CMYKGavin Clark, Commercial Director at Snapfulfil, adds: “Snapfulfil is thrilled to be able to support Susan in her courageous quest to cross the channel. This is no mean feat and we are proud to be involved. Snapfulfil, through its parent company Synergy Logistics, has been associated with the Loughborough area since 1972 and we are very keen to support such a meaningful endeavour that can make such a difference”.
