Cobley Transport assumes postcode of failed Palletways member

Cobley Transport has taken on the RG postcode previously handled by defunct Palletways member Reading Freight Service, Commercialmotor.com can reveal.

Reading Freight Service collapsed last month and owes approaching £1m to creditors, according to a recently filed statement of affairs at Companies House.

The company was based at Colthorp Business Park in Thatcham, where Cobley also has a depot, and has an O-licence for 30 vehicles and 32 trailers. It was headed by MD Ralph Casbeard.

Harrisons Business Recovery was appointed as the failed firm’s liquidator on 17 July. According to the statement of affairs the company has a deficiency of £934,943 in regards creditors.

This includes £145,322 owed to Palletways itself, as well as £215,000 to Royal Bank of Scotland Invoice Finance. The tax man is owed £382,067 in regards outstanding PAYE, National Insurance and VAT.

Cobley Transport covers several Palletways postcodes in Leicestershire, where it has its headquarters at Broughton Astley.
