Transport and logistics firms lag behind the UK average for pay bills, taking 25.9 days to pay compared to a national average of 23.46 days.

However late payment research from Experian suggests that all UK businesses are paying their bills around two days quicker than they were this time last year.

The data shows that firms across all sectors in the UK paid overdue invoices 23.46 days after agreed terms in the second quarter of 2012, compared with 25.31 days during the same period in 2011 and 24.67 days during the first quarter of this year.

Within the transport and logistics sector, the figure was 25.9 days in the second quarter of this year, compared with 26.6 days for the same period last year and 27.25 days in Q1 2012.
