Silvertree IceSpy a winner of the latest temperature monitoring innovation

Silvertree Engineering (part of The IMC Group Ltd.) has announced a winner of its IceSpy System 5 temperature monitoring system, following its official unveiling at foodex 2012 earlier this year.

Roli Ranger, of Londis’s premier flagship store in Ascot was thrilled to be awarded the IceSpy System5 device, after being picked from thousands of entrants at the event in Birmingham.

The IceSpy System5 is the most advanced wireless monitoring and alarm solution that Silvertree has ever developed, providing professionals in the food industry with an unrivalled insight into the temperature conditions in which goods are packed, stored and transported.

The device proved to be a popular hit among manufacturing, processing, packaging and logistics professionals during the event, which provided Silvertree with an opportunity to demonstrate its many capabilities. Visitors to the food and drink expo were also invited to enter into a competition to win Silvertree’s latest device.

Mr Ranger, who has already installed the system into the fridge/freezers at his Londis store in Ascot town centre said: “I was delighted to receive the IceSpy System 5 which is already working extremely effectively at our store, in order to ensure our fridges and freezers do not reach any unsuitable temperatures. Our food quality is vital to the business, and this device removes one of the biggest pressures we face whilst ensuring customer satisfaction, and saving us the time we would normally spend carrying out manual checks.”

The system is a safeguard that not only reassures the supply chain that food has been stored at optimum temperatures but also helps inform efficiency initiatives to save energy costs by avoiding unnecessarily high or low temperatures.

The device records one-minute, 10-minute and hourly intervals can be used to monitor fridges, cold rooms, storage facilities and vehicles, alleviating the time spent by staff doing manual tests.

It consists of Scout transmitters which log, store and wirelessly send readings to a BasePlus unit where data can be downloaded to a PC, or to the internet or IT network for viewing. With a battery life of up to five years and an external probe which can measure temperatures from -80°C to 140°C, the IceSpy provides food and drink manufacturers with the confidence that their products are not being subjected to unsuitable temperatures and ensures complete product quality.

IMC Group Managing Director Ian Robinson said: “We had a fantastic response to the IceSpy System 5 at foodex and are thrilled to be able to announce the details of our competition winner. Temperature monitoring is crucial to any food or drink business and this device gives food and drink manufacturers the guarantee that their products are of the upmost quality.”
