Ruck Retail Solutions sees demand for failed delivery service

Cheshire’s Ruck Retail Solutions says it has already received strong interest from hauliers keen to make use of its new failed delivery service, which it launched last month.

The company, run by ex-RHM Foods senior distribution manager Dennis Cookson, is offering operators that miss their delivery windows, the option of dropping their loads off at  its 40,000 sq ft temperature-controlled Winsford warehouse.

MD Cookson, who’s business has an O-licence for two vehicles but plans to make use of sub contractors in the main, says he has received strong interest, with Austria’s LKW Walter lined up to use the service.

Cookson predicts it  will be of particular interest to European operators travelling into the UK that don’t necessarily have the infrastructure to deal with a missed delivery window, other than parking up and waiting for the next slot.

Domestic operators travelling up from the south of England are likely to find the central location of the warehouse near J18 of the M6 within striking distance of Manchester and Liverpool attractive too.

“We get a lot of wagons parked up near us, so I believe there’s a real opportunity to be had, albeit not with the Stobarts of this world,” says Cookson.

Ruck’s main business is installation of point of sale material for national clients such as Tesco.
