Hyva strikes one-stop-shop skip loader deal with Scania

Hyva revealed its new partnership with chassis manufacturer Scania to provide skip loader bodywork for 18-tonners in a one-stop-shop deal for operators at the Tip-Ex 2011 tipper show in Harrogate.

Operators buying the Scania CP16 day cab 4×2 rigid chassis can also order the Hyvalift NG2012XL skip loader body at the same time.

Hyva MD Tony Davies believes the deal could yield 50 to 100 orders a year.

“The lead time on the chassis, which is approximately six weeks, means we can build the body at the same time. Once we get the prepared chassis we can turn it around in seven days, before it has to be painted,” he says.

The dealer network will market the skip loader and perform the aftersales service. Davies says the body has an 8-tonne lift capacity with extended arms, which increases to 12 tonnes with the arms retracted, conspicuity markers down the side, and a nearside mirror so the operator can see any movement when operating the controls located on the offside.

Scania’s specification includes a 9-litre Euro-5 EGR engine with three power ratings (230hp, 280hp and 320hp), eight-speed gearbox, 3.9m wheelbase, 7.5-tonne front axle, and two years’ repair and maintenance.

There is also the option for the CP14 cab and 3.55m wheelbase.

Hyva also launched its new tipping gear for the eight-wheeler market. Davies says the FC137 is capable of working at up to 220bar, the new faster 0.5m per second operating speed quickens the tipping cycle improving productivity.

“The tipping valve of the FC137 can bolt straight to the cylinder, saving unnecessary pipe work and therefore the risk of pipe failure. Reliability and safety is improved, and potential maintenance costs reduced. It also saves approximately 50kg over Hyva’s standard 8×4 tipping gear, the FC149,” he says.
