RJ Murray & Son joins Pall-Ex

Carlisle-based RJ Murray Son has recently joined the Pall-Ex network. The firm, which operates over 30 vehicles from a single site, will take responsibility for the DG postcode area and part of the CA postcode area and will also run Pall-Ex’s new northern hub.

Both these areas were previously covered by Carlisle-based Stalkers Transport, which also ran the network’s previous northern hub.

A Pall-Ex spokesperson says the move of hub is just about Murray’s site being larger and adds that it is currently in discussion with Stalkers about its catchment area, stressing that it is “100% still a member”.

RJ Murray Son’s hub is a 40,000ft² facility on a 30-acre site close to the M6. It is expected to handle around 1,000 pallets a day and will allow Pall-Ex to offer a wider service logistics solution to the north including pick-and-pack operations, as well as providing vehicle operators with new truckstop facilities, says the network.

“The Pall-Ex northern hub is a very exciting development for our business and customers,” says RJ Murray Son MD, Steve Murray. “It will give us a very cost-effective solution for moving freight throughout northern England, Scotland and in time, to Ireland.”
