Hughes Transport (Portadown) has been fined £1,600 after an investigation uncovered O-licence and tachograph record sheet infringements.

In a prosecution brought by the Driver Vehicle Agency (DVA) at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court, the County Armagh-based firm was fined £1,300 on three charges relating to having no valid O-licence, and £300 in respect of one charge of failing to ensure the return of tachograph records sheets from a driver.

Magistrates also ordered the company to pay an offender levy of £15 and court costs of £40.

The charges were brought under the Passenger and Goods Vehicles (Recording Equipment) Regulations (NI) 1996 and the Goods Vehicles (Licensing of Operators) Act (Northern Ireland) 2010.
