A County Antrim-based haulier has been fined £1,900 after the authorities in Northern Ireland discovered tachograph and drivers’ hours irregularities at the firm.

In a hearing at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court following an intelligence-led investigation by the Driver and Vehicle
Agency (DVA), PRM Haulage was fined a total of £1,600 on eight charges relating to drivers who failed to take a daily rest.

The business, based on the Lissue Industrial Estate, Lisburn, was then fined a further £300 in respect of three charges of having caused or permitted a failure to record data.

PRM was also given a conditional discharge on a charge of failing to make regular checks of tachographs and a conditional discharge in respect of a final charge of employing a driver who had exceeded his daily driving period.

The charges were brought under the Passenger and Goods Vehicle (Recording Equipment) Regulations (NI) 1996 and the Road Traffic (NI) Order 1981.
