First MAN CV Show competition winners receive their trucks

A pair of lucky operators, Quality Freight UK and Selwood, have received the first two of six MAN trucks given away in a competition at this year’s CV Show.

The two were among six firms that won an MAN truck of their choice for six months, along with six months’ repair and maintenance cover, road-tax, tyres, MAN Fleet Management and driver training.

Ellesmere Port-based Quality Freight  was presented with a TGS 24.440 tractor unit earlier this month, adding to its fleet of 10 trucks.

MD Seb Gardiner (left image: pictured second from right with Quality Freight’s Aedan Leeming, MAN’s Peter Schofield, and Quality Freight transport manager Phil Bennett), said he was “thrilled to have won the MAN” and is looking forward to evaluating the truck.

“On paper, the whole life costs look impressive, and we hope this closely resembles real-time operation,” he added.

The second truck, a TGX 26.440, was awarded to Chandlers Ford-based plant and pump hire firm Selwood. It has been added to its 57-strong fleet and will be coupled to a low-loader and used to move plant equipment.

Group transport manager Paul Green (right image: pictured right with Clive Smith from MAN and Richard Skudder,  general manager at Harwoods Truck Centre) said: “It’s a super opportunity to see how the MAN stacks-up. We’ve run MANs before, but not at maximum weight, and I hope this impressive looking Euro-6 TGX can deliver what MAN’s TCO [total cost of operation] calculator suggests.”

Winners yet to receive their trucks include: FTX Logistics, James Nuttall (Transport), Bowring Transport and Immingham Transport.

Operators were given the opportunity to enter via the manufacturer’s stand at the NEC, or online.
