Boyes plans approved

Boyes Transport has had plans for a trailer storage site in Zeals, Wiltshire, approved by its local council.

Plans to allow the firm to store 15 trailers on its land were given the green light by Wiltshire County Council last month.

The firm’s planning application stated that tractor units would not be stored at the Zeals site and would enter the location only to pick up and drop off trailers.

An spokesman for the Office of the Traffic Commissioner said an O-licence for Zeals would be required, although no application had been received.

Nicola Boyes, trading as Boyes Transport, was given permission to base 14 vehicles and 18 trailers at a site in Yeovil last year (CM 7 November 2013), provided that Stephen or Sarah Boyes, who formerly traded as Boyes Transport, did not have a part in the company’s transport operations or general business.

Wincanton-based Sarah Boyes had the former Boyes Transport O-licence revoked in 2012 (CM 25 July 2013) by traffic commissioner Sarah Bell. In July last year upper tribunal judge Mark Hinchliffe dismissed an appeal bought by the affected parties.

As well as revoking the firm’s O-licence for 14 vehicles and 14 trailers, Bell’s 2012 action saw Sarah Boyes disqualified from holding an O-licence for two years.

Nicola Boyes could not be reached for comment.
