HGVs left with cracked windscreens after attack

Police Scotland have described the throwing of objects at two artics on the A90 this week as “reckless and extremely dangerous” and urged witnesses to come forward.

Both supermarket delivery HGVs had their windscreens cracked and led to a combined repair bill of £600 following the incidents in the early hours of Tuesday morning (27 May).

The first took place at 1.50am on the southbound carriageway of the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road at Tealing and the second incident occurred at just after 2am.

No injuries were reported.

“Clearly the throwing of any objects at a moving vehicle is irresponsible, reckless and extremely dangerous,” said a spokeswoman for Tayside Police. “But for good fortune alone these incidents passed without injury, but the potential for a serious or even fatal road traffic incident to occur is all too apparent.”

The incidents follow a spate of object throwing offences on the A90 last year.
