Sherwood Distribution & Storage placed in liquidation with deficit of nearly £480k

The liquidator for Worksop-based Sherwood Distribution Storage said the company went bust this week with an overall deficit of almost £480,000.

A creditors’ meeting to discuss the future of the company, which had a licence authorising 15 vehicles and 25 trailers, took place on 20 May and it was placed into creditors’ voluntary liquidation shortly afterwards.

The company had customers across the UK and in Europe and transported high value, bulk, fragile and palletised freight.

Its website said it was also a member of the The Pallet Network.

Phil Daly, at Daly Co, said he was appointed liquidator of the firm as well as the dormant company Sherwood Distribution Services, set up as a service company to the haulage firm.

Daly said this business never traded, but it managed to accrue a £60,000 tax debt.

He said: “All the trucks and nearly all the trailers were on short-term rental and have been collected by the rental companies. The portakabin from where the company operated was repossessed and all that is left asset-wise is money owing from the company’s customers. I am not aware of any intention on the part of the directors to start up a phoenix business.”

Sherwood Distribution’s phone line no longer worked and directors Paul King and Terry Wrigley did not respond to our email.

Sherwood Distribution is not connected to Fred Sherwood Sons (Transport).
