CV Show 2014: Bridgestone secures five-year Ryder contract renewal

Bridgestone has renewed a multi-million-pound contract with hire firm Ryder for another five years – the manufacturer’s largest deal of the year so far.

Under the deal, announced at the show, Bridgestone will supply tyres for more than 24,500 trucks and trailers on the rental giant’s fleet.

Bridgestone’s Truck Point support network was cited as a major factor behind Ryder’s decision to opt for the brand, which offers a round-the-clock tyre management service.

Greg Ward, commercial sales director at Bridgestone, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be in a position to celebrate our extended fleet partnership with Ryder, with whom we have built up a long-standing and unique partnership over the last 15 years.

“To have signed a five-year extension deal is a huge coup for everyone at Bridgestone.”

Ryder fleet services director Terry Dillon said: “We are pleased to have agreed this new contract. It will ensure that Ryder, and its customers, receive best in class tyre management from Bridgestone and its Truck Point network partners.”

Bridgestone’s stand at the show focuses on its Total Tyre Care programme, though the manufacturer is also demonstrating its tyre pressure monitoring system, breakdown services, tyre management options and Bandag retreads.
