CV Show 2014: Isuzu showcases Euro-6 Urban and Forward models

  • By Steve Hobson

Isuzu Truck is displaying two versions of its brand-new lighter 7.5-tonner – the Urban N75.150 4×2 rigid, featuring Isuzu’s proven turbocharged four-cylinder 3.0-litre 148hp engine.

Alongside them is the latest Euro-6 version of Isuzu’s popular Forward N75.190 4×2 rigid, specified with an aluminium tipper body. Urban and Forward models can have either manual or Easyshift transmissions and both options are on show. The line-up is completed with an 11-tonner – a Euro-6 Forward F110.210 with Easyshift transmission.

“Our current truck range comprises modern, stylish, economical, payload-efficient vehicles from 3,500kgs up to 11,990kgs GVW. The hard-working, well-established 3.5-tonne vehicles are ITUK’s Grafter range. All vehicles above 3,500kgs are the Forward range, with the exception of the new Urban 7.5-tonner. The Forward range has vehicles at 5,500kgs, 6,500kgs, 7,500kgs, 11,000kgs and 11,990kgs GVW,” said Keith Child, marketing director, ITUK.

The two Urban N75.150 4x2s at the show have completely different bodywork. One truck features a refrigerated body with Carrier Xarios refrigeration and the second is specified with an aluminium dropside body.

“With the advent of Euro-6 regulations, Isuzu now offers two engine options at 7.5 tonnes,” said Child. “We have introduced a new model but with a proven driveline pedigree – the Euro-6 Urban N75.150 with a four-cylinder 3.0-litre engine.

“This model perfectly complements our alternative 7.5-tonner – the new Euro-6 Forward N75.190, again with a four-cylinder, but a 5.2-litre engine. By using the lighter weight 3.0-litre engine, the new Euro-6 Urban N75.150 is around 200kgs lighter than its partner. So the Euro-6 Forward N75.190 remains available for operations that involve more arduous, longer and faster average-speed journeys and the new Urban is ideal for payload critical, stop-start, local distribution operations,” concluded Child.
