Konecranes sources environmentally friendly service van fleet

Resolute to increase the efficiency of its nationwide service operation, Konecranes – one of the world’s foremost lifting equipment manufacturers – has invested in a new fleet of eco-friendly and fuel-efficient service vans.

Representing a £multimillion deal over three years, the new vehicle intake supports Konecranes’ commitment to delivering outstanding levels of customer service from what remains the UK’s largest team of crane and lifting equipment service engineers of its kind. Simultaneously, being the leading fuel efficient and emission friendly vans of their type, the new fleet supports Konecranes’ mission of developing environmentally advanced solutions that are highly efficient, exhibit low emissions and which fulfil the exacting requirements of the customer.

Vauxhall’s Carl Stanton, Fleet Sales Manager – New Business (left), hands over the keys for the first wave of new service vans to Konecranes UK Fleet Manager and Financial Controller, Andy Spencer.

As Pat Campbell, Director of Market Area – West Europe for Konecranes’ UK, states: “Our overriding intent is to provide our customers with the most efficient and cost-effective in-the-field service solution possible, and investing in the new van fleet is testimony to this fact. Not only will Konecranes be able to provide a more emission and environmentally favourable service moving forwards, improved whole of life costs will ensure that customers profit from a more cost-effective solution in the process.

“In essence, the entire team of Konecranes’ service engineers will have at their disposal the most efficient vehicles available in terms of performance, economy and reliability, and will enable them to deliver continuing excellent levels of customer service for which Konecranes is renowned,” he adds.

Konecranes has recently taken delivery of an initial fleet intake of 88 multi-award winning Vauxhall Combo and British-built Vivaro vans. Offering substantial and versatile storage capabilities, the Konecranes liveried vans have been modified by vehicle workshop enhancement and conversion specialists, the Bott Group.

In order to maximise storage of the latest mobile servicing and diagnostic equipment, not to mention a number of fast moving spare parts, the vans have been equipped with tailor-made internal configurations that will serve to boost overall operational efficiency.

Whilst the L1H1 Combos feature Start/Stop engine that delivers an impressive 58.9mpg, the L1H1 Vivaros are fitted with the Euro 5-compliant 2.0CDTi 115PS engine to deliver outstanding performance and fuel economy.

As National Fleet Sales Manager at Vauxhall, Andy Savage injects: “These vans will support Konecranes across numerous areas of its business and highlight the versatility of the Vauxhall commercial vehicle range. Using a combination of our two best-selling commercial vehicles, Konecranes will prosper from a fleet that offers outstanding reliability and proven fuel efficiency.”

Konecranes’ employees that fall within the company’s company car scheme will also be able to benefit from having access to one of Vauxhall’s leading fleet cars, the highly-popular and versatile Insignia.
