A cyclist has been cautioned after knocking a HGV driver unconscious with his cab door in Suffolk last month.

The incident occurred on the morning of 4 February in Copdock, near Ipswich.

The cyclist had been approaching the truck from behind, and allegedly became verbally abusive towards the driver when he stopped on a narrow road to let a car coming from the opposite direction pass.

After getting out of his cab to speak to the cyclist, the cyclist allegedly swung the door into the driver’s head, knocking him unconscious.

The 48-year-old driver sustained a head injury and was treated in hospital for concussion.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said a 40-year old man from Ipswich was cautioned on Friday 14 March.
