Andrews Haulage opts for Thompsons Loadmaster tipper bodies

Andrews Haulage has switched its vehicle purchasing strategy back to buying brand-new vehicles, taking delivery of a dozen 8×4 Scania tippers with Thompsons Loadmaster bodies to join the company’s 50-plus fleet.

Previously opting for used trucks on its fleet, the Swanley, Kent-based operator said there is currently a dearth of good quality second-hand tippers on the market, therefore making new vehicles more attractive.

The new Loadmaster tipper bodies are heavy duty units with double skins and four cornerposts, designed and built to handle demanding payloads.

Each body has also been specified with Thompsons’ cab-operated tailgate system, which eliminates the need for the driver to leave his cab. Trucks also feature full sideguards, hazard warning stickers and rear-view cameras.

“Over the years, we’ve bought and sold a good many tippers” says director Danny Andrews, “but now we insist on them having a Thompsons body. A tipper with a Thompsons on it is virtually bomb-proof – so we can buy them in, run them a few years and then sell them on with complete confidence. We know first – hand that a Loadmaster body can give you over a decade of really hard work. This means we also achieve the lowest bodywork maintenance and operating costs, as well as the highest residual value.’”

Make sure you come along to Tip-ex 2014, the only exhibition dedicated to the tipper and bulk transport sector, taking place in Harrogate from 29-31 May.
