The Goldstar Transport driver who died while making a delivery at Toyota’s factory in Derbyshire has been named as Paul Nodding.

The 56-year-old from Bury St Edmunds is understood to have died after becoming trapped between two lorries at the vehicle manufacturing plant in Burnaston in the early hours of 22 January.

Matthew Ashworth, MD of Goldstar Transport in Felixstowe said: “Paul’s death has shocked all that are involved with the job we do for Toyota. Our thoughts are with Paul’s family at this terrible time.

“We are co-operating with all the organisations involved.”

An inquest into Nodding’s death was opened and adjourned by assistant coroner Louise Pinder at Derby coroner’s office.

In an earlier statement, Toyota said the driver was delivering a container of parts to the Derbyshire site and had been instructed to collect an empty container to return to Felixstowe.

It added: “The police and the HSE are investigating this incident and have stated that there don’t appear to be any suspicious circumstances. We are supporting the Police and the HSE with their inquiries.”
