400th ATF lane opens at HTC in Hemel Hempstead

The UK’s 400th authorised testing facility (ATF) lane has opened at truck and trailer parts dealer and workshop HTC in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire.

DVSA (formerly Vosa and the DSA) chief executive Alastair Peoples was joined by Hemel Hempstead MP and former transport minister Mike Penning to open the vehicle testing lane today (8 January).

Peoples said 72% of vehicle tests are now carried out at non-DVSA test stations, with the first time pass rate higher than ever.

“I feel proud of the ATF record so far and I know local operators and drivers in the Hemel Hempstead area will quickly see the benefits of having a greater choice of where they can have their vehicles tested,” said Peoples.

HTC aftersales director Peter Gibbons said the opening of the ATF lane has taken the site closer to becoming a ‘one-stop shop’ for operators in the area.

He also said the site was chosen for the lane due to its proximity to the M1 and M25.

“The opening of this ATF Lane today along with all the other services this brand new site offers will without a shadow of doubt enable us to raise the bar even higher,” said Gibbons.

HTC Hemel Hempstead opened in April and has 10 bay workshop for tachograph, ADR and vehicle testing.
