Earthline takes MAN’s 100,000th UK-registered truck

Wiltshire-based aggregates and recycling firm Earthline has taken delivery of MAN’s 100,000th UK-registered truck; a TGS 35.400 tipper.

The truck is Earthline’s eighth MAN to be put into service in 2013 and comes with MAN TipMatic automatic transmission, a Thompson body and Edbro tipping gear.

It has been taken on a four year operating lease package from MAN Financial Services, with a two year full repair and maintenance contract.

Earthline’s general manager Malachi Chambers said: “We’ve used MANs in our fleet since 2010 and one thing’s for sure, they’re built to last; they’re superb for our type of work.

Our drivers love the MAN TipMatic auto-box and, from an operational perspective, aftersales support is as good as any I’ve experienced in the industry.”

The marque’s milestone comes 21 years after it began trading in Swindon under the MAN Truck Bus brand, when it held 4% of the six-tonnes and above market share in the UK.

It now has 11% market share and 500,000 trucks on the roads, and MAN CEO Des Evans said reaching the milestone was “an important day in the history of MAN in the UK”.

Earthline has a fleet of over 50 tippers and operates from sites in Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire and Buckinghamshire.
