Broughton Transport Solutions joins UPN

Melksham-based Broughton Transport Solutions, the successor to D Mortimer Sons, has joined the United Pallet Network (UPN).

Broughton, which is run by Toby Ovens, bought the haulage business of D Mortimer Sons in 2011 after the latter was forced into a partnership voluntary arrangement (CM 25 October 2012).

Ovens told CM the firm had joined UPN in May covering the SN and some of the BA postcodes, representing the first time his business, or D Mortimer before him, had been in a pallet network. He said he was pleased with progress so far, “given we started from scratch” .

Broughton has subsequently expanded its area of coverage within the BA postcode after UPN and Ellen’s Express Transport parted company.

Andrew Spencer, sales director at UPN, said Ovens was approaching pallet membership the right way and had “attacked it head on” .

D Mortimer Sons is currently pursuing Lloyds banking group in regards redress over a financial product designed to protect it from interest rate rises that it believes it was miss-sold.
