Tacho cards will not feature driver’s address from December

As of next month the DVLA will no longer issue tachograph cards with drivers’ addresses printed on them.

Lorry drivers will only need to inform the DVLA about an address change for their UK driving licence, with all tacho cards automatically updated – therefore eliminating the need to make a separate request.

Existing tacho cards that do show an address will still be valid until their expiry dates.

Roads minister Robert Goodwill said the move will “make lorry drivers’ lives easier”, as well as saving the taxpayer around £50,000 in administrative costs.

Company, workshop and control cards will not be affected by the change.

The DVLA handles approximately 20,000 notifications per year to amend digital tachographs, with 720,000 card holders in the UK.
