AR Lunn enters administration; 115 jobs go

Hull-based haulier AR Lunn Transport Warehousing has entered administration after nearly 30 years of trading, blaming rising fuel prices and operating costs.

Commercialmotor.com can confirm that administrator PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) was appointed on 1 March following a series of talks with the company’s bank.

During this time, the East Yorkshire haulage firm made a decision to park up its entire fleet, as the business was not able to guarantee if drivers could be paid, according to a company spokesman, who wished to remain anonymous.

The company held three O-licences for a total of 103 trucks and 175 trailers across three operating centres in Hull, Middlesbrough and Immingham.

A total of 115 employees have now been made redundant, confirms PwC, which is now in the process of selling off the company’s assets.

In its latest set of accounts filed to Companies House for the year ended 31 October 2010, AR Lunn made a pre-tax profit of £18,053 on a turnover of £9.7m; compared to a restated 2009 pre-tax profit of £75,661 on a turnover of £7.4m.
