Better sat-nav for trucks at CV Show 2012

Snooper will have its revamped range of Truckmate sat-nav systems at the CV Show that have been improved following feedback from drivers, owner-drivers and operators.

Philip Jones, sales director, says Snooper (stand 3G22) has worked with Home Delivery Network and supermarkets to help fine tune the system. What is essentially a routing product is being enhanced with need-to-know information like truck stops locations, AdBlue sites, and fuel stations that take specific fuel cards.

By putting in the dimensions of the vehicle (height, width and length) the routing system will seek wider, flatter roads that help maintain road speed and the highest gear, explains Jones. There is a multi-drop function that allows 16 postcodes to be added at one time, and Snooper offer free software updates.

S7000 Truckmate pro costs £479, and has freeview TV and EU coverage, whereas the S5000, which is £299, only covers the UK. Snooper has developed S900 Truckmate Lite, a no-frills sat-nav for £199. All system come with a windscreen holder and can be charged on 12V and 24V sockets.
