Forum of Private Business calls for fuel price cut

  • By Chris Druce

Employer’s group the Forum of Private Business (FPB) has backed calls to reduce the price of fuel, after yesterday’s debate on the topic in the House of Commons.

As part of its newly launched Get Britain Trading manifesto, the FPB is calling for fuel prices to be cut, either through a cut in duty or the introduction of a fuel stabiliser.

The employer’s body wants to enable small businesses, including hauliers, to buy and sell more profitably on a local, national and international basis.

It comes after a majority of MPs last night (16 November) backed a motion calling for the government to act now on crippling fuel prices.

Yesterday’s long awaited fuel debate in the House of Commons saw a high turn out of cross party support with 35 MPs getting the chance to make impassioned pleas on behalf of their constituents during the four-hour Back Bench session
